First choice in active subwoofers, the LS801P combines a cast-frame, neodymium-based 18-inch bass driver with a rear-loaded bass horn enclosure made from 15mm birch ply covered in rugged black carpeting (black Ultrathane painted version - LS801PB is also available). Now add 1,500 Watts of onboard Program power featuring full-time "invisible" limiting. Result - a rugged, high-powered "earth mover." Balanced XLR inputs are included along with 1/4-inch TRS inputs which, at the push of a button, can handle either line-level or speaker-level signals (you can simply connect it to any full-range speaker for quick and easy setups). Connections also include both XLRM and 1/4" Output Link jacks for interconnecting up to 10 LS801P's in larger concert systems. An additional XLR 'Mono Blend Input' allows the LS801P to function in a stereo system by blending the balanced L & R signals from a stereo mixer and creating a single in-phase mono signal. The control panel features a +/- 12dB Level pot for matching the LS801P's output with the rest of the system, a tunable 90 to 150Hz HF Roll off pot to let you match the LS801P to any full-range enclosure without an electronic crossover, a unique Shape control that modifies the bass response, a Line/Speaker Input Level button and LED's to indicate Power, Limit and Clip. Hardware includes four steel inset handles, a steel top-mounted pole-stand adapter, a heavy-gauge curved steel grill and tilt-back wheels. Bring your home theater or hi-fi stereo system to life with Advent's ASW1200 active subwoofer. This affordable, nondescript black box is capable of conveying dramatic realism and exciting effects from both music and movie programs. The 12-inch sub delivers 100 watts of clarity and stability--and you can place it just about anywhere in the room since human ears are so much less sensitive to directionality in low-frequency sounds than high-frequency sounds. The speaker has a frequency response of 33 to 150 Hz with a variable crossover to help you match the upper range of its output with the lower range of your other speakers.

The ASW1200 offers inputs for either line- (RCA) or speaker-level (clip-type) inputs, with speaker-level outputs, too, in case you want to run speaker cables from your amplifier or surround receiver to the subwoofer, and then on to your speakers, putting the sub "inline" with 100 percent of your audio listening. Alternately, you can run a dedicated monaural RCA subwoofer cable from your surround receiver's subwoofer preamp output (for authentic ".1" effects from 5.1- or 6.1-channel programs) or from any level-dependent analog audio output.

When used in conjunction with smaller, bookshelf-type speakers, the subwoofer extends system capability to full-range frequency response. With larger, floorstanding speakers, the sub helps shoulder the burden of reproducing low-frequency information, and its variable crossover lets you scale its output to cover only frequencies deeper than those most efficiently reproduced by your floorstanders in your room (rooms have a huge effect on audible bass response).
